MICHAEL SHORT
Michael passion for horses started at a young age with his first pony called Candy. From there is joined the local Pony Club, enjoying eventings, sporting, but really found his love for Showjumping, winning His first Pony Club State Showjumping Title at 14yrs, on a TB Gelding call Tommy.
Upon leaving school Michael worked and trained under the guidance of Billy Raymont. Managing Billys team of horses travelling all over Australia. From there he headed to Finch Farm and worked with David Finch, training the young warmbloods, also working in Davids breeding programme. Returning back to the family Farm in Beerwah he started breeding and putting together his own team of showjumpers. MIchael has established a breeding programe at Belle Phynn Park, breeding a number of future showjumpers. Michael tstarts the youngsters up to a level of competing 1.10 taking them onto the show circuits for experience, they are often offer for sale from there.
MIchael found his passion for coaching passing his knowledge and experince onto many of the students at Glasshouse Mountains Riding School, specializing in Showjumping.
vMichael is one to watch as his career in Showjumping progresses, sights doing the World Cup Series, he also would like to travel and compete overseas.
MADI BOATWRIGHT
Madi Boatwright has grown up with horses in her blood. Having ridden since before she could even sit up. From her first little pony Madi progressed through the levels of pony club in NSW. She won her first state dressage championship at a tender age 11 on a pony called Sam, from there she had a very successful career winning many Championships in dressage. She moved to QLD 10 yrs ago and has fallen in love with the thrill of showjumping. She crossed Michael Shorts path when they worked together in a showjumping yard in Brisbane. From there she joined the team at Belle Phlynn Park helping with the showjumping team and found her passion for coaching. Throughout her riding career, Madi has also played polocrosse, hacking, mustering cows, danced in dressage arena and now showjumping., With this wealth of knowledge, and experience Madi brings lots of variety into the lesson program at Glasshouse. When Madi isnt coaching she is training the next generation of riding school horses - she loves the see the process from the very beginning to ensure that the horses adapt to the school environment. Madi also loves to watch her students develop not only in their riding, but in their horsemanship skills as well. Looking to the future, Madi is also looking at being Cheif instructor Glasshouse Pony Club, where many of the riding school students attend.








BELINDA SHORT
Belinda and her husband Phil purchased the Yeates Rd property in 2006, after recognising a need for a somewhere, where children could come to ride horses and learn in a safe environment. The Glasshouse Mountains Riding School was established and although began with only a few riders it has quickly grown in stature drawing riders from the local and wider communities.
Over the years Belinda has offered support and guidance to her students. The school has a very friendly atmosphere and does their best to accommodate everyone. Glasshouse Mountains Riding School has a range of horses and ponies catering for the beginner riders through to those who are wanting to be compete in any of the given pony club disciplines – show-jumping, dressage, sporting and cross-country.
Belinda has watched many of her riders develop over the years and is now enjoying their success with them as they begin to compete at higher levels – some riding to qualify and represent QLD.
Belinda has tought in the riding school for the last 17 years, now stepping back from instructing over the last couple of years, leaving her students in good hands with Michael Short and Madi Boatwright, both bring a wealth of experience and knowledge into the school.
Belinda's involvement is still very strong and enjoys her involvement in the breeding of the warmbloods, her role now is of a management perspective, as Belinda and Phil head into retirement.
